Learning the Cartwheel

Yesterday I had a double lesson (about 90 minutes) and it was exhausting! But, I learned a ton. We reviewed the first 20 seconds of the routine that I learned last week, and then Alexis started teaching me the next 50 seconds. I think it was helpful to have a double lesson because we were able to work on a larger piece all at once. I was thoroughly tired by the time it was said and done though.

The song we picked is very fast, which Alexis reminded me means I need to learn about twice as many steps to fit into the 90 second performance than if we had picked a slower song. Hmmm… starting to second guess the song choice a bit. Well, not really! It’s a super fun song and I have no doubt we’ll put on a great show alongside my fellow “Stars”.

The most exciting part was that we learned the choreography all the way to the cartwheel – yes, there’s a cartwheel!! As you might expect, it’s not ME doing the cartwheel, but I am helping! Ruth and the kids visited at the end of practice so they could see my current progress. Check out the progression pictures below that Ruth took of the cartwheel. As promised, we will be entertaining, so make sure you’re there on November 9!
