Let the Fancy Footwork Begin!

I had my first real dance lesson on Wednesday! So far so good. I wasn’t sure what the process might entail for teaching a routine to someone who’s never danced before, but we’re off to a good start.

The plan is to go through the routine chronologically so I learn it bit by bit. During this first lesson we got through about 20 seconds…. so, at 90 seconds long, we’ve got a ways to go! As we go through the first few times, the focus is on making sure I get my feet in the right places. As I write this, it sounds so simple but it was way harder in practice. Alexis assured me that once my feet are good we’ll figure out what to do with my arms…

Next week I have a double lesson so I’m hopeful the progress will continue. I’m a bit sore from this single practice (lots more turning than I’m used to!), so we’ll see what happens when we jump into the double next week.

Thanks for following along and supporting Cristo Rey!
